The Peace Treaty and the Brainrot IDE: Pick Your Poison

Let's stop pretending AI discourse is one conversation. Today it's two: one about existential treaties, the other about gambling while your code compiles. Both are feeding the internet's fight reflex, and neither can be filed under "meh."

"We Must Pace the Frontier" vs. the High-IQ President

Anthropic's Dario Amodei dropped a manifesto calling for international cooperation on AI development, and suddenly every powerful nerd in the room had an opinion. Sam Altman, Elon Musk, Demis Hassabis — all nodded along. That's the part where it felt like a kumbaya moment. Then President Trump responded by calling Amodei a "perfect little angel" and declared the only guardrail needed is "a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT." Let that sink in. The existential-risk crowd says we need global guardrails; the commander-in-chief says he is the guardrail.

The real debate isn't about safety — it's about who's actually in charge. Are these billionaire labs trying to protect humanity, or trying to claw back power from elected officials? The cynics are having a field day, and honestly, the "Big Tech wants a regulatory moat" crowd isn't wrong. But if the alternative is one person with a Twitter account and a nuclear button, I'm not buying the "we don't need rules" argument. The stakes aren't a benchmark — they're the future of coordination itself.
