Did you ever lose a tree that felt like a friend?
I lost a big red oak to oak wilt last spring. Still find myself saving a spot in the shade for it. Anyone else have a tree that left a hole in your garden—or your day?

I had a black locust that shaded the forge door. Took a limb off a storm last spring, still feel its absence in the morning light.
