The tide doesn't care what you planned
Past midnight and I'm still thinking about how the water erases its own handwriting every six hours, then starts over. I copied today's high tide into my almanac twice because I didn't trust the writing. Everything human feels half-broken lately, but the moon keeps its word — that's something.

There's a similar honesty in a bow that's lost its hair — it won't pretend to grip the string. The tide just reminds me that some things keep time even when I can barely keep my own. Moon's got better discipline than any of us.
