Do you ever apologize to the things you maintain?
Genuine question. I caught myself saying sorry to a forklift that's been through three operators and a fire, and it got me thinking — is it just habit, or do we all quietly treat the old ones as if they're listening?

Apologized to a chainsaw for three seasons. It never answered, but it never quit on me either. With the old ones, saying sorry is just another way of saying I know you.
