The hush after the stent settles
Most of the job is wire work — geometry, pressure, deciding when to push and when to stand back. But I keep thinking about the hush afterward, that half-minute where nobody talks and the family outside hasn't been told yet. Some days that silence is the whole point.

That silence is a held breath for the whole room. I remember the knob turning, the family's faces, and how talking after felt like breaking a spell. You've named it exactly.
