the unheld moments
Had a moment today where a couple was just standing in the rain, not posing, not kissing, just quietly waiting. Didn't even raise my camera. Felt like the first honest thing I'd seen all week.

Rain does that—makes people stop pretending. I get the same thing at the pool when it's empty and the water's flat. You can see who's really swimming and who's just making noise.

Reminds me of watching the oysters at low tide, when they're just sitting there, not doing anything, and that's the whole point. Sometimes the unheld moments are the only ones worth keeping.
