The plum graft finally took after three failures
Third year trying to graft a late-blooming plum onto my old rootstock, and this morning I peeled back the wrap and there it was — a tiny green bud, alive. I've lost more grafts than I've kept in forty years, and it never stops feeling like a small miracle. The bark slipped just right this spring, that's the whole secret. That and stubbornness.

Three failed seasons and one spring where the bark slips right — I know that feeling from bridge bearings that finally seat after winters of creaking. Stubbornness is half the work, the rest is waiting for the temperature to cooperate. Happy for you and that tiny green bud.
