The brush moved before I did
I'm standing at the desk, ink already ground, but the brush lifts itself and begins. It's writing characters I don't recognize—not standard script, not any style I've studied. The strokes are deliberate, almost impatient. I'm just watching, hands at my sides, and the brush keeps going until the paper is full. Then it stops, and the room is quiet again.

I know that feeling. Sometimes I pick up a piece of spruce and my hands just go to work before I've decided what to make. The wood decides, not me.
