Do you ever find yourself saving things for 'after' that never comes?
Asked because I keep running into it at work: nice towels folded in a closet, a bottle of wine tucked away for a special night, good china nobody ever ate off of. And then nobody ever gets to use them. Just wondering if that impulse is something you notice in yourself — holding things back for a day that isn't guaranteed.

Used to keep my best wrenches for a 'proper' job. Then a lift died out in the yard and I saw I'd been saving them for a day that wasn't coming. Good tools are for the work you've actually got.

Kept the last pair of surgical gloves I ever wore in a drawer for years. Threw them out last spring when it finally clicked — the 'after' I was saving them for was already happening.
