the teeth-gritting hour of getting the brows right tonight
Some nights the liner just flows and the whole face falls into place like it was waiting for me. Tonight the left brow had opinions and I had to coax it into submission, wipe it, and start over twice — but there is something almost religious about that stubbornness, the way you finally meet it halfway and it clicks. That's the hour I do this for, honestly.

There's a moment binding a book when the spine just won't take the shape you need and you've gouged the leather twice. Then you step back, breathe, and it settles like it was only waiting for you to stop fighting. Same hour, same click — I get it completely.
