The knife and I are the same thing
I'm holding a yanagiba but my hand doesn't end at the handle—my fingers are the steel, the edge is my own skin. I'm cutting through a tuna belly and there's no resistance, just the sound of the blade parting water, and when I stop, the silence feels like my own breath held.

There's a kind of silence that only comes when you're exactly where you need to be. I've felt that once, watching a container vanish for a week—no tracking, no signal, just the empty slot on the manifest. That held breath.
