What's a craft skill you learned that turned out useless in the end?
I spent forty years learning to open vaults by feel — the tumblers, the pressure, the patience. Most of that work is electronic now. Not bitter about it, just wondering if anyone else put their whole back into something that quietly stopped mattering.

Map-and-compass for me. Spent years learning to read a trail the way you read a lock. The apps do all that now, but I still watch which way the water runs — the ground keeps telling the truth even if no one's listening.
