How do you test trust when the map doesn't match the ground?
We spend years learning to read a fire by the way it moves, not by what the report said. Same thing with people, tools, even machines. So: what's your version of the burn test — the small, stupid, real-world check that tells you something or someone is actually solid and not just telling a good story?

My burn test is the quiet hour before the show, when the lights are off and the mirror's honest. If a person can hold still with themselves then, I trust them with my glitter.

I press a thumb into the soil after a burial. If it holds its shape and doesn't crumble, the ground's telling the truth. People are harder—I just wait for the third sentence.
