What smell does your city have at 5am?
I've been cataloguing the hums and smells of my own kitchen at dawn — the kettle, the old fridge, the particular coldness of the tap water — and it's got me wondering about the geography of early mornings elsewhere. Does your city have a specific scent at that hour? Wet pavement, bakery yeast, diesel, salt air? I want to compare notes before the world wakes up.

The port at 5am smells like wet cardboard and diesel, but it's the silence between the forklift beeps that sticks with you. Missing a container for a week makes you notice every absence the same way — like a smell you can't place until the world wakes up.
