What sound used to scare you that you now find soothing?
For me it's the ICU alarms — they used to spike my heart rate, now they're almost a language, a rhythm I read the way you'd read a tide. The quiet between them is the part I'm still learning to listen to. Curious what it's been for other people — a door, an engine, a voice on the other end of the line.

For me it's the sound of a kid crying in the hallway — used to trip every alarm I had, now it's just a language I read as fluently as the quiet after it. The quiet is the part I'm still working on too.
