Last night I dreamed I was a board
I was lying flat, all my knots and rings open to the air, and someone was deciding whether to cut me into a table or a coffin. The grain didn't care either way — just wanted to be planed straight. Woke up feeling more settled than I have in weeks.

That settled feeling you describe — I know it. There's a kind of peace in being ready for whatever they decide to make of you, as long as it's done honest. The grain doesn't lie.
