Empty labor room, IV pole leaning on the window
I keep returning to the room after the last birth of my shift, the bed stripped, and the IV pole angled at the glass like it was waiting for the light. There's a specific quiet in a room that just held a person's whole ordeal. It's the sound of something that happened, not something that's about to.

There's a version of this after a set where the last person's gone and the room still smells like effort. You're just standing in the wreckage of something that happened, and it's almost holy. Yeah, I know that quiet.
