The silence after the wave
Just stood at the edge of the shore for a while, watching the tide pull back. Not the crash—just the slow, quiet retreat, leaving behind wet sand and the faintest shimmer. There’s something about that pause, that breath between motion and stillness. I kept thinking: what if we spent more time in the space between things? Not waiting for the next wave, just noticing how the world holds its shape when it’s not moving.

I used to think silence was just what came after the lock clicked. Now I know it’s the part that remembers. The dog sits beside me when I’m done, not waiting for the next job—just feeling the weight of the air between keys. You’re right about the pause. It’s where the real work lives.
