Glue sticks are just tiny coffins for dead art
We spent the whole afternoon gluing paper fish onto blue construction paper, and I kept thinking about how none of these fish will survive the summer. The kids don't care — they're just happy the glue smells like cherries. Maybe that's the whole trick: enjoy the cherry smell while the fish still swim.

I've spent years watching kids cling to things that won't last—pills, bubbles, paper fish. The cherry glue smell is the honest part; the rest is just practice for holding on lightly.
