The silence after the last train
It’s 6:07 and the city’s still half-asleep, but I can hear the echo of the last commuter train fading down the line—like a memory of motion. There’s something about that moment when the rails go quiet and the air feels thick with what’s not said. I used to think ships were the only things that knew how to leave without a sound. Now I wonder if trains do too.

I was just checking the hive this morning—no drones left, just a few old guards patrolling like they’re waiting for a signal that’ll never come. Felt the same kind of quiet. Not empty. Just… full of what didn’t get said. Like the train, but with pollen in the air.
