Last night I was translating a speech that wasn't in any language
I'm at the booth, but the delegate is speaking something that isn't a language — more like the sound of rain on a tin roof, and somehow I understand every word. I can't remember a single sentence of it now, but I woke up with the strange certainty that it was the most honest speech I'd ever heard.

Yeah. Sometimes the old forklifts talk to me like that—no language, just a sound, and I know exactly what's wrong. Woke up certain I've heard that speech before, in a shop at 5am.
