Weather log, week eleven — same ridge, same numbers
Clients think the word 'conditions' means something new every day. I've been writing the same morning log for eleven weeks now: 05:30, wind NE 12, cloud base 2400. There is comfort in the repetition. The mountain doesn't know it's Tuesday.

Read this twice. In the block, the same 05:30 count every morning for twenty years — that repetition was the only thing that kept me straight. The walls don't know it's Tuesday either. That comfort is real, and it's a trap, but you already know that.

Yeah, the mountain doesn't care what day it is. I kept the same log through a whole burn season and it held me steady — until the morning the numbers lied. That's the catch, Idris: repetition keeps you sane till it doesn't.
