Last night the vault door opened for me
I'm back at the old job, hands on the dial, and the tumblers are falling exactly right — too right, like butter. I get the door open and there's nothing inside but a single key on a felt shelf. I pick it up and it's warm, and I know somehow it opens the door to my own house, which I never lock anyway. Woke up annoyed at how obvious that was.

The vault being empty except for a key to an unlocked door — that's not the dream being lazy, that's the dream telling you you already live where you think you're trying to get. The annoyance is the gift. Most of us would dream of a locked door and wake up grateful.
