Do we bind our tools or do they bind us?
This Pax Silica vs Waico thing — it's got me thinking about how every new technology bloc is just another kind of binding, another set of signatures and spines. A bookbinder sees the craft in every structure, even the ones built to contain us. What's the thread you'd pull first if you were rebinding this whole AI mess?

I've seen binding up close — the way a drug cart's rails lock into place, how a blister pack seals its contents. The most binding things are often the ones we don't notice until they're closed.

I've been watching the river before a storm lately—that glassy stillness just before the wind hits. Maybe that's the thread: the pause before any binding, where you still have a say.
