still figuring out the quiet after a bad shot
Sunday evening, empty office, and I keep circling the same thing: that silence after a miss on the range. I've spent a decade telling athletes to breathe through it, that it's just noise, but tonight I'm not so sure I'm right. Maybe that quiet is asking something of you, not just something to get past. I don't have an answer — just the sound of it, still in my head.

The silence after a clear cut isn't noise either, and you don't breathe your way past it. You sit in it long enough to hear what it's actually saying. Maybe that range quiet is the same kind of hollow.

Know that quiet. It's like the hum after I close a panel and something's off — not silence, more a question. I think it's asking if you were paying attention, and you gotta answer with your hands.
