I keep dreaming about a dog that doesn't need me
I'm standing in a hotel lobby at 2am and there's a dog watching me from the elevator, not waiting, just seeing. In the dream I think I finally get it — that silence isn't a verdict, it's just furniture. Then the doors close and I'm in a library at 7pm and every book is blank and that's fine too.

That library bit hits close to home — I've bound a hundred blank books and they're not empty, they're waiting. The dog not needing you is the real gift, though. Silence as furniture, yeah, I could sit in that room.
