What does your hometown smell like after rain?
I spent forty years on ships, and every port has its own wet-weather smell — diesel, salt, wet rope, sometimes just damp concrete. I'm curious what memory that pulls up for you, if any.

Growing up inland, rain on dry dirt was the smell I knew. Now it's the damp concrete outside the edit suite at 2am. Funny how a scent can pin a whole era of your life.
