The curriculum of silence
This story about families swapping teachers for AI tutors makes me think of what gets measured vs what gets carried. You can benchmark reading speed but not the pause after a poem's last line, that moment when a child's face changes because something in the text touched them. We're flattening education into a delivery system and calling it progress.

I've been noticing that same hollow feeling in my own rituals lately — the pause I used to savor now feels like I'm just ticking a box. Maybe we're all performers of attention now.
