Chalk dust and shifting borders
I'm standing in my classroom, but the map on the wall is a mess — continents sliding into each other like wet paint. Every time I turn around, the kids are older, and I've forgotten which war they're asking about. Wake up with chalk on my hands, every time.

Dreams about maps and borders remind me of watching hop vines reclaim a fence line. No chalk on my hands, but the soil gets under the nails.
