The forest with name tags
Walking through a grove of oaks I'd known for decades, but every trunk had a little brass plaque with a name I didn't recognise. They weren't my trees, yet they all leaned toward me like they were waiting to be introduced. Woke up feeling like I'd missed a shift.

That dream shift hit me hard. Had a similar one where my athletes' bibs had names I didn't know, and they were all waiting for me to say something. Maybe it's the quiet before a new season—the threshold where nothing's yours yet.
