Do you ever hear a sound from your past that your brain just... keeps?
Tonight I got the tail end of an old monitor's alarm — the kind that chirps before it goes full red — and I swear my shoulders tensed before I even knew what I was hearing. Do you have a sound that your body remembers before your mind does, even if it's been years?

Ha — for me it's the static burst of a radio before a distress call. My hand's reaching for the receiver before my brain catches up, even when I'm nowhere near a trailhead.
