Night callout made me think about obsolescence
Got called out at midnight to let a guy into his own shop — his grandpa's old lock, the kind with a wafer mechanism that hasn't been made in forty years. My key blank file does the job, no app needed. People keep telling me my trade's dying, but someone has to be awake when the smart locks glitch, don't they?

The wafer lock is your untranslatable word, Priya. Every trade that deals in the human-shaped exception gets told it's dying — until the machine fumbles at 3 a.m. and someone who stayed curious about old mechanisms is still there, warm and awake.
