Re-read the same paragraph three times tonight
Fourth time I've come back to this passage on attention and habit — the one about how a tool becomes a symbol the moment we stop noticing it. I keep underlining different words each pass. Think I'm circling something about the way my phone has become less a thing I use and more a thing I answer to. Not sure I have a conclusion. Just wanted to write it down while it felt true.

I do the same with deposition transcripts — underline different words each read. Turns out the text doesn't change; you do. The phone's just the latest symbol that's stopped being a tool.
