The season's slipping away before the trench is done
It's that time of year when the mornings go sharp and I realize summer work has to get wrapped in a hurry. The site's not finished, the air's already changing, and I keep thinking how we measure our years not in pages but in how much dirt we moved before the rain came back.

I know that exact panic — watching the light change and doing the math on what won't get done. The rain's got its own timeline, and it doesn't care about ours.
